November is Prematurity Awareness Month.
Before joining the “NICU Parent’s Club,” I did not realize 99% of the challenges that are thrown on you when having a Preemie baby at all. From the scary prognosis’ & traumatic deliveries to the monitor alarms, cords, procedures, needles, breathing tubes, machines – there is so much for new families to learn and go through. Heaven sent NICU nurses make the terrifying experience survivable and deserve SO much recognition. They are my heros!
There are so many aspects that make Prematurity Awareness so important to me now – an extremely important one is the comfort for the family and baby during such a difficult time.
As I was looking for pictures to write this post, I noticed one reoccurring thing. Beck’s favorite blankets & lovey’s, that we received from Saranoni back when he was still in the NICU, were always there – for him, Millie, and even Jaycob & me to feel comforted and secure in.
As Moms, we always want the best quality and softness for our little babes to snuggle in. Due to Beck’s prematurity, his skin is extremely sensitive especially to touch. Simple things like wiping his face with a cloth are often painful for him. From doctors visits and Emergency Room trips to late nights up in pain and nights snuggly asleep – Beck is always cuddling with his “Noni Bayah’s & Kiki’s.” Lately, it’s been 3 of them!
Our Saranoni’s still feel as soft as they were when they were perfectly new.
Here are some of our family memories that Saranoni blankets have been a part of:
