New bunny in the house? Looking for the perfect bunny hutch?
I’ve got you’re go-to for everything to buy, right the first time:
Welcoming a bunny into your home is an exciting adventure! Ensuring their well-being involves providing a safe and comfortable environment, a healthy diet, and plenty of enrichment activities. Here’s a comprehensive guide to our favorite products for indoor and outdoor rabbit care, from hutches and litter boxes to food and toys. We’ve tried all the products out there in the 5 years of breeding Holland Lops – Our little rabbitry here: @brugsbunny.
Indoor and Outdoor Rabbit Cages
Indoor Outdoor Rabbit Cage – Aivituvin [Upgrade Version] Rabbit Hutch Bunny Hutch
- This versatile hutch is perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. However, bunnies should not be confined to the cage 24/7. They need lots of free roam time or access to a large pen.
- This cage can be configured as one large cage or split into two separate ones. It doesn’t have a bottom tray, making it ideal for outdoor use on dirt with pavers or indoors with a waterproof mat and litter boxes.
Essential Bunny Accessories
Pellet Feeder – Chewy | Amazon
- A convenient way to keep your bunny’s food fresh and accessible.
Feline Pine Platinum Non-Clumping Litter
- I use an absorbent pad as a base layer with Feline Pine litter on top in all litter boxes. This setup helps with odor control and easy cleaning.
- Absorbent Pads
- This spacious litter box is perfect for bunnies! Most on the market are too small – thrilled to find this one.
- I like to have a few of these for litter training. Place them in corners and then remove them (all but one near their food) once your bunny is trained. They’re also useful if you take your bunnies into a room without a permanent litter box. Smaller but deep enough to hold more.
- This versatile play pen is great for giving your bunnies roam time, whether indoors or outdoors. I recommend getting two for a larger, more flexible space.
Feeding Your Bunny
Oxbow Young Rabbit Pellets – Amazon | Chewy
- I feed this to my bunnies until they’re at least a year old.
Adult Pellets – Small World Complete Rabbit Feed
- Switch to these pellets once your bunny is an adult.
- We prefer orchard grass because of its nutritional value and lower allergy potential compared to other hays. I get a big, affordable bag at my local IFA store. If you don’t have an IFA store near you, you can buy it online.

Outdoor Must-Haves
- Keeps your bunny warm and dry in their outdoor hutch. I place these in the bunnies’ outdoor hutches up top where it doesn’t get wet. If it gets lower than 40 degrees, I also add the warming heat pad and a heated waterer.
Outdoor Chew-Proof Heating Pad
- Essential for colder weather to keep your bunny cozy.
- Heating Pad Cover
Extra Accessories
- Ensures your bunny always has access to fresh water. Cup or bowls are recommended over water bottle dribbles (they do not provide enough hydration).
- Perfect for mental stimulation and physical exercise.
Quiet Nail Grinder with Light + Guard
- Safely trim your bunny’s nails with ease.
- Provides a cozy spot for your bunny to rest.
Carrot Bowl for Pellets or Veggie Scraps
- Cute and functional feeding bowl.
- Another adorable option for feeding your bunny.
- A fun hideout that adds variety to their environment.
- Great for mental stimulation and enrichment.
- Convenient for travel when loose hay isn’t practical.
Taking care of your bunny involves more than just providing the basics. With the right products and a little extra effort, you can ensure your furry friend is happy, healthy, and thriving!
