After a thorough trial, here is our Diono Rainier Car Seat Review!
We have tried over 8 different companies and models of carseats & I can honestly say that NONE compare to the Diono Rainier Car Seat.
We basically live in our car while traveling from city to city in our crazy minor league baseball life so we definitely got a lot of use our of our carseat. I am SO glad we finally got this one for so many reasons including how narrow it is, convertibility, easy cleaning, safety, & more. { Details Below }

Here are some of our favorite things about the Diono Rainier Car Seat:
- It’s super narrow! – I am pretty sure that is is the skinniest carseat of it’s class on the market. We often take other baseball players in our car which means grown men squished in our middle row with Millie. Previous carseats we tried took up almost 1.5 seats – the Diono Rainier Car Seat doesn’t even take up a full seat! It made it much more comfortable for everyone once we got this amazing carseat.
- Very easy to wash! – It’s basically all one piece and very easy to take off, throw in the washing machine & put back on. One of the other carseats we have tried was so hard to re-assemble after washing, that we honestly gave up and started looking for a better carseat. This is huge especially right after a long road trip full of food, drinks, and accidents.
- Convertible – Forward & Backward Facing options. This definitely comes in handy when your child has long legs like Millie but is still too young to be forward facing.
- Easy to remove cupholder. – Millie thinks it’s so fun to crumble up goldfish crackers in her cupholder and poor water on them… it makes a disgusting paste. The Diono Rainier Car Seat‘s cupholder is very easy to remove & wash.
- Comfortable strap keeps harness in safest place – This is huge! The Diono Rainier Car Seat comes with strap pads that keep the harness in the correct place always! I love this feature and was sooooo sad when I lost my straps while washing them a few weeks ago. Diono’s image below shows the correct strap pads under the top clasp.
– Make sure the chest clip is at the level of the child or infant’s armpit. - High Safety Rating –
It has a Steel frame – this helps make it super safe! It definitely make
s it a little heavier, but it’s worth it to have the extra safety!
- Quick Latch – I love how quick and easy the latch is to attach & remove from the anchors in your cars seat or row. I have to switch the carseat to different cars often and it’s no longer a pain with this type of clasp/latch. The other kind also hurt your hands when trying to unhook – not this one.

We have Dionos for both of our girls (2.5yrs and 7months). Best carseats! I feel so much better knowing they are in safe seats. And an adult can still sit in between the seats in our car with plenty of room since they aren’t bulky.
